Youth Emblems

The Diocese of Orange administers the following national religious emblems for Cub and Boy Scouts and Venturing crew members. Emblems workbooks are available at the Scout Shop and Pray Publications or scoutstuff.org

Cub Scout Religious Emblems:

  • Light of Christ – Catholic Tigers and Wolves
  • Parvuli Dei – Catholic Bears and Webelos

The Cub Scout emblems are to be worked on with the family. It should not be a den activity. The emblem should take 2-3 months to complete. Start and completion of the emblem should be coordinated with a trained religious emblems coordinator. See the list of coordinators (counselors) by clicking here (coming soon). The emblem is typically awarded at a council ceremony and the BSA religious knot is awarded at a Pack meeting. After the Cub has completed the workbook and met with the parish priest for review, send the completed form to:

Boy Scout and Venturing religious emblems are worked on in scheduled meetings with a trained religious emblems counselor (moderator for Pope Pius XII). Sessions typically start in January or February. Participants must attend a retreat as part of the program and pass a Board of Review typically held in mid-November. Payment is due at the Board of Review. The emblems are awarded at a diocesan ceremony in January. The religious knot can be awarded at a parish ceremony or Court of Honor.
